Attorney Profiles
Lisa Shinar, a native of Southern California, attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Political Science. Before entering law school, Ms. Shinar was active in state politics and served as an assistant campaign manager for a candidate for State Assembly. While in law school, Ms. Shinar gained significant experience in criminal defense as a supervisor for the USC Post-Conviction Justice Project. At the Post-Conviction Justice Project, Ms. Shinar represented state prisoners at parole hearings and filed writs of habeas corpus in state and federal court. Ms. Shinar’s efforts before the California Supreme Court contributed to a landmark decision that released a woman who had served over twenty-five years in state prison. (See: “News”) Furthermore, Ms. Shinar served on the advisory committee for the California Habeas Project, an organization that secures assistance for domestic violence survivors incarcerated for crimes related to their experiences of being abused. Ms. Shinar graduated in 2006 with a J.D. from the University of Southern California School of Law. Ms. Shinar was admitted to the State Bar of California in December 2006.
