On Dec. 26, four people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a fiery crash in California. The two-car accident happened in Fair Oaks at around 1:30 a.m. when a driver drifted over the centerline. So far, investigators have not confirmed whether impairment played a factor in the wreck.
A 28-year-old man with a history of drunk driving caused a Dec. 14 accident in Alhambra that involved 13 other people, officials said. The incident reportedly happened around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Poplar Boulevard and Fremont Avenue, where several pedestrians were admiring Christmas lights.
An accident on the southern California coast has taken the life of a 29-year-old woman and sent two people to the hospital. The residents of the area near the accident stated that the spot where it occurred, an intersection in Oceanside, was known to be particularly dangerous. However, witnesses of the wreck said that the truck that caused the multi-vehicle collision was not driving in a safe or appropriate manner.
At about 2 p.m. on Nov. 28, a northbound SUV on Grapefruit Boulevard in Thermal struck a concrete barrier on the left side of the road, struck a construction sign on the right side and then crossed over the double yellow lines to the southbound lane where reportedly it collided head-on with a van near 58th Avenue. Officers believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
A fatal bus accident in California may have been the result of fatigued driving, according to an initial investigation. The accident took place on Nov. 23 when a 67-year-old tour bus driver lost control along Interstate 5 near the Oregon border. After drifting off the right shoulder, the bus fell down an embankment and then flipped onto its roof.
