Fatal car accident statistics

Thanks to improvements in vehicle design and safety features, car accidents in California and around the country kill far fewer people than they used to. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reported that the number of deaths caused by car crashes has gone down by over one-third in the last few years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimated that there were fewer highway fatalities in 2014 than there has ever been, and car-related fatalities are likely to continue going down.

Autonomous cars on California roadways and liability issues

As of 2015, California is one of only four states permitting testing of autonomous car technology on its public roads. While the Mercedes-BenzS550 has semiautonomous features, Apple and Google have dominated discussion of fully autonomous cars so far. Google estimates that 94 percent of all auto accidents result from human error, but the remaining 6 percent have made many observers have questions as to the risks autonomous cars could pose. Without the driver's ability to control the vehicle, questions of liability in the event of an accident become difficult to answer.

2 parties sue Caitlyn Jenner after fatal highway crash

Two separate lawsuits have been filed against Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympian Bruce Jenner. The legal actions concern a deadly accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in California near Malibu. The stepdaughters of the deceased female victim of the accident have prepared a wrongful death lawsuit and cited Jenner as the defendant. Another woman, who survived the wreck, has also named Jenner in a personal injury lawsuit.

Porsche faces lawsuit in connection with actor's death

It has been reported that the daughter of Paul Walker, the late actor who starred in the "Fast and Furious" movie series, is suing Porsche. In the wrongful death suit, the actor's daughter and her lawyers allege that the manufacturer is to blame for the star's fatal single-car accident because the car he was a passenger in, a 2005 Carrera GT, lacked essential safety features. The crash killed the 40-year-old actor and his 38-year-old driver in Southern California on November 30.
