Victor Valley has seen a spike in major traffic accidents over just a few weeks, a trend that is frustrating to observe because of the many lives that have suffered or been ended. However, the trend is also difficult to understand from the standpoint that no direct contributing factors can readily identified.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is highly concerned about the rise in serious accidents, especially over the course of only a few weeks. Ironically, the increase comes at a time when Victorville has recently added officers with specific training intended to curtail dangerous driving and identify drivers who may pose a threat to others on the road.
Victor Valley has already surpassed last year's numbers for accidents and injuries, and that was according to reporting at the beginning of December. In an effort to combat this trend, the area law enforcement has been conducting regular operations to target drivers who may have been drinking, as well dedicated distracted driving patrols. "It starts with motorists," Pennington said.
"Motorists need to get off their cellphones and just slow down," says Victorville Sheriff's Station Sgt. Steve Pennington. "This time of year it seems like people are really in a hurry to get places, be it taking the kids to sports, picking them up from school or holiday shopping."
There are many factors that can contribute to accidents occurring, and often it is simply that another driver isn't doing their job and driving safely. If you have been injured in an accident, the guidance of an experienced attorney can help you pursue justice and fair compensation for your losses and injuries, while making sure that your rights remain protected.
