Murder suspect faces serious time behind bars for Oregon case

Was your loved one was killed mercilessly while working? If so, you deserve the chance to seek compensation for his death and justice for the murder, just like the widow in this case.

A 44-year-old man has been booked into a jail in California and will be extricated to Oregon, according to news from Feb. 17. He is accused of killing a Clackamas County weighmaster in 2014.

The man faces other accusations including the possession of a firearm as a felon. While that case takes place in Oregon, he also faces an accusation of being involved in a child rape in Washington.

The Oregon case centers around the accusation that the 44-year-old man shot a 47-year-old assistant weighmaster. The 47-year-old man had stopped the man's truck on Oregon 224 to check the trailer. After the 47-year-old man was dead, the 44-year-old allegedly fled the scene.

Later on that year, 2014, he was found trying to break into a vehicle, according to police. He fired on police, and police shot him twice, one time in the face and once in the arm. He survived with hospitalization. Following his arrest, a 2016 trial found him guilty of attempted murder, exhibiting a deadly weapon while resisting arrest, second-degree burglary of a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault on an officer with a semiautomatic firearm. He received a sentence for 38 years and eight months to be served in prison.

The widow of the man who was killed in the above Oregon case sued Clackamas County for her husband's wrongful death. Clackamas County stopped allowing weighmasters to stop traffic since the death, and it was fined for improperly training its employees. The woman sought out $2.75 million but settled for $700,000, according to the report.
